eConsult: The new way to book a routine appointment - Launching Monday 8th January 2024

To improve your experience as a patient, we will be piloting a digital system called eConsult from the 8th of January at Sea Mills Surgery and Southmead and Henbury Family Practice. A software provider, trusted by the NHS and chosen by us, to help coordinate your care and improve communication. By completing a secure online consultation from, we can ensure patients are seen by the right person in reasonable time.

How will it work?

Found on the Mendip Vale website, the eConsult form consists of questions regarding the medical issue/enquiry. Following completion, within 72 hours a GP will review the eConsult and advise on the best solution – this may be an appointment, a telephone call, or a text with the recommended pathway to the most appropriate clinician. If you require a Nurse appointment, please call the surgery as normal. eConsult will be available to complete during surgery core hours of 8am-6:30pm Monday to Friday.

Patients who do not have internet access will be able to phone the surgery. A patient Coordinator can complete a form for you over the phone. We will still be advising patients to call after 11am if they require a non-urgent routine appointment. Alternatively, patients will be able to visit the surgery and complete a paper copy that will be available at Reception.

The access to urgent appointments will remain the same; patients should continue to call from 8am on the day for same-day appointments.
